See the essential differences between the electric F-150 Lightning and Tesla Cybertruck

Two massively top of mind new vehicles, the F 150 Lightning, and the Tesla Cybertruck, almost couldn't be more different. Between them, they constitute a kind of religious war. Which thing is are you gonna follow? Let me help you find your profits. [MUSIC] Let's get right to your first question. Both these trucks will base at a very compelling 40 grand before tax incentives. The Ford can range up to 90 grand or so in the top trim when it's loading. The Tesla a little higher at about 70 grand for the top model. Their AI price parity makes these trucks head on competitors perhaps more than any other spec. [MUSIC] First the obvious styling the F-150 lightning is the epitome of normal You almost have to be a car buff to spot one. It does have a moderately different face. That's your main giveaway. The cybertruck on the other hand, it's impossible not to spy. And interestingly, shares no design cues with its stablemates like the Model S or Model Y. You may see one and not only not know what it is, but not even know it's a Tesla. The F150 lightning is an utterly conventional layout from cab to bed. It's like any other F150 instantly tying it to perhaps the widest array of accessories in the truck business. The cyber truck is a clean sheet design, and one that buyers are going to have to learn the ins and outs of if they intend to carry it Expect a universe of bed and other sorts of accessories. Both, of course, boast a big front trunk, which any pickup owner should be quite excited about. [MUSIC] This is the most complex, comparison. All F-150 lightnings have two Motors and all-wheel drive, but a choice of two batteries, the base battery gets you 426, And 230 miles of range. The bigger battery gets you. 563 HP and 300 miles of range and both have 775 pound feet of torque the most ever in an F150. The cyber truck gives you three choices, two wheel drive, single motor in the rear 250 miles on a charge with that one, two motors for all wheel drive that gets you 300 miles. Are a tri motor that is also all wheel drive with two motors in the back and that gets your 500 miles. Now no horsepower or torque figures have been published by Tesla as of our taping today. [MUSIC] Full details are still pending. But on the top level, the Tesla promises to tell more haul more and go faster than the F 150 lightning. Thing. Though neither is less than stunning and that 0-60 department. You gotta love electric motors. [MUSIC] Here are these two can kind of relate. The F-150 was radical a few years ago when it moved entirely to aluminum bodies at the time heresy in the steel toe boot world of truck owners. The cybertruck is an origami of stainless steel. Also utterly unconventional, more or less indestructible as well. Maybe that was a little too hard. [LAUGH] [MUSIC] The F 150 lightning sports either a big or even bigger center touchscreen And you know where they got that idea. The whole auto industry has been mimicking Tesla on that front. But the F-150 also has a traditional instrument panel. The cybertruck doesn't. Issuing all other interfaces other than that big center screen, love it or hate it. The ideal is probably somewhere between these two trucks. [BLANK_AUDIO] The F-150 has very cool built in scales that can tell you how much you've loaded up the truck. That's cool. The cyber truck on the other hand can take the blows from anything and not become that beat up dented truck that they all seem to become after a while, both have big Franks and promise to power all your electric stuff. Next time, your local utility fails. Think about that, Texas The cybertruck also has a locking hard roll top over the bed. The F-150 lightning is coming in spring of 2022, because it's forward you can pretty much bank on that. The cybertruck is supposed to beat it to market by a few months. But because it's Tesla, you don't bet on that. The key way that Ford's f 150 lightning and the Tesla cybertruck are similar is how they have both awoken very big discussions around electric vehicles, especially electric trucks, and are awakening us to the idea that electric trucks matter more than electric cars. Plus, this pits the amazing battle of the automotive era. The world's most successful electric vehicle maker against the maker of America's most successful single vehicle, this is gonna be good.
